In this unit you will learn the stages and sequence of language development and how research and theories of language development support good practice. You will learn about the importance of developmentally appropriate interactions between adults and children so that you can promote children’s speech, language and communication development. You will also learn about the value of early detection of speech and language difficulties and the referral process.
