The study of Geography is a way to achieving a better understanding of our complex and rapidly changing world. It looks at the way we look after and use our planet and the things that impact on people's’ lives in different parts of the world.
During the course you will examine the hydrological cycle and how it impacts on our lives in terms of changing landforms and our understanding of and responses to flooding. You will also look at population issues such as ageing populations and migration and the political impacts of these using examples from around the world. We also study the issues associated with coastal management and think about the problems of energy use and supply for different countries both now and into the future.
In the second year you will study four topics - ‘Tectonic Hazards’ (volcanoes and earthquakes), ‘Development and Globalisation’, ‘Environmental Issues’ and ‘Conflict’.
